NCFE Level 2 Award In Introduction To The Passenger Shipping Industry
Whatever your background and job experience is, you will find that there are great employment opportunities for you to work on board a Cruise Ship. It is the largest growing leisure/travel job industry in the world and they are always looking for new cruise staff who are experienced working in areas such as hotel, casino, beauty therapy, photography, security, retail, food and beverage, administration, entertainers, hotel personnel, IT, lecturers, Security personnel, travel staff, health and fitness and many more. They also employ unskilled workers at entry level for certain jobs. Most of the larger cruise companies have a cadet training scheme on board their ships. With lots of new ships on order over the next few years, jobs in the Cruise Industry could not be more exciting. They offer a wide range of employment opportunities for hundreds of staff and hire all nationalities for jobs on board their ships.

- Understanding the main Passenger Shipping Areas
- Prepare for work within the Passenger shipping Industry
- Effective Customer Service On Board
- Passenger and Crew Safety On Board
The Qualification:
The Level 2 Award in Introduction To The Passenger Shipping Industry is accredited by NCFE.
Course Start Dates:
This Course is operated in LONDON, 3 times a year, February, June and October, with 2 modes of study:
Wednesday Class: 12 week course taking place on Fridays from 10.00 – 16.00
Saturday Class:12 week course taking place on Saturdays from 09.30 – 15.30
Course Entry Minimum Age: 16
Shipping Company Entry Requirements:
Shipping Companies generally require the following specifications in prospective employees for working on ships:
- Age limit is usually 21– 65. In some cases for Cadets the age is 16-22 and the minimum age for Beauty Staff is 19.
- Any nationality can work on a cruise ship.
- Be able to live and work away from home.
- Have customer service or sales experience.
- In most cases you do not require any previous Cruise Ship experience. For skilled jobs you must however, have the relevant shore experience for a job on a cruise ship. There are also positions available for non skilled workers.
- You require a valid passport, and a C1-D U.S. seaman's visa, which you can obtain from your U.S. consulate when you get your contract of employment from your future employer. (It takes a few days to prepare)
- A recognised qualification.
Target Group:
Those wishing to find employment in the passenger shipping industry, including passenger ferries and cruise ships. To formally recognise those already working in the industry with existing knowledge and competence, with a formal qualification. It is also suitable for those who wish to enhance their studies in business, leisure, travel and tourism.
