NCFE Level 2 Aviation Operations on the Ground

Within the travel and tourism industry, airport check in staff & ground crew still play an extremely important role within the airline sector and great emphasis is still placed upon finding the prefect candidates for this demanding and extremely rewarding job. With this in mind the course has been designed to provide students with the underpinning knowledge required to work effectively as a member of ground crew and to equip learners with the skills and knowledge required to be an Airport Passenger Service Agent. It will also provide learners with the knowledge of customer care and how to handle the needs of airline passengers.

The course includes:

  • Trainers who are also current Ground Crew with some of the world’s major Airlines

The main aim of this qualification is for students to investigate the various areas of ground crew:

Part One:

  • Health and Safety within Aviation
  • Aviation Communications
  • Airport Check In Services

Part Two:

  • Aviation Security
  • Aircraft Boarding And Arrival Services
  • Aviation Passengers with Special Requirements
The Qualification:
The NCFE Level 2 Certificate for Aviation Operations on the Ground has been accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, and is part of the National Qualifications Framework.

Course Start Dates:
This Course is operated in
LONDON 3 times a year, February, June and October with 3 modes of study:
Friday Class: 12 week course taking place on Fridays from 10.00 – 16.00
Saturday Class: 12 week course taking place on Saturdays from 09.30 – 15.30
Intensive class: 3 week course taking place every day, Monday – Friday from 10.00 – 16.00


This Course is operated in
MANCHESTER, in February, June & October, with 1 mode of study:
Saturday Class: 15 week course taking place on Saturdays from 10.00 – 16.00
(This course is operated in partnership with Cabin Crew Coaching)

Course Entry Minimum Age: 17

Airline Entry Requirements:
Airlines generally require the following specifications in prospective employees:
  • A minimum age of 18
  • The right to live and work in the EU
  • An excellent standard of health which may be subject to medical examination by the airline
  • Possess a GCSE or above level of qualification

Target Group:
Those wishing to find employment working in an airport, those in industry wishing to develop skills in a new job role, those in employment wishing to change career and those who wish to enhance their studies in travel and tourism .

Please Note:
NCFE have updated and revised this course from 1st January 2011.
The course is in 2 parts. Part 1 consists of 3 units and takes 6 weeks to complete with an in-house certificate on completion. Students will then have the opportunity to continue for a further 6 weeks to complete part 2 which consists of a further 3 units with an NCFE certificate on completion. The course fee is £295 per part.
